Sharks Volunteer Policy
Parents are an essential element in operating our swim team!
Each family is required to participate in volunteering to be in compliance to SHRSL. Shifts can be filled by any adult 18 or older.
The minimum requirement for volunteering is 7 SHIFTS per family.
There are 7 meets for the 2025 season (Intrasquad, 5 Dual Meets, & MOC) and each meet has 2 shifts.
NOTE: This does NOT apply to Age Group Parents, as Age Group Parents are expected to work every meet with their assigned Age Group.
DETAILS:
Volunteer shifts will be assigned to each family based on their availability selected DURING REGISTRATION.
Volunteers must be ON TIME. If an assigned shift is missed or the volunteer is late*, then the shift is considered "missed" and the volunteer family will be charged $65 for the missed shift. This is applicable for every missed shift.
*Definition of 'late': The shift has to be filled with a back-up volunteer to allow the meet to proceed.
NO RESCHEDULING will take place.
NOTES:
1. The Sharks recognize that emergencies happen. If an emergency circumstance arises, the volunteer will need to contact a board member immediately to discuss if that shift will be considered "missed" or not and what actions are needed.
2. If the volunteer needs to miss an assigned volunteer shift (non-emergent cases), then they are responsible for finding a replacement so that the shift is not considered “missed.” This can be a relative or friend (must be 18+ years of age).
3. There is an option to "Buy-Out" of the season’s volunteer requirement at the cost of $450 which is available during registration.
4. To ensure volunteer selections are processed and all 'Buy-Outs' are processed, every family will have a $450 "Volunteer Encouragement" credit or debit card authorization at the time of registration. This is an authorization ONLY (temporary hold) and will only be submitted as an actual charge IF the family has selected the 'Buy-Out' option during registration. This hold will be released after processing (up to 7 days later).
