Want to be a Age Group Parent as your Volunteer Job? Read the requirements and answer here.

Being an Age Group Parent is a special job on the Sharks! It comes with different duties, requirements, and rewards. If wish to be an Age Group Parent, then here are the requirements: (1) Select an age group and gender of one of your swimmers - you should not be an Age Group Parent of a group you do not have a swimmer in. (2) Age Group Parents are expected to work the entire meet for ALL meets if possible - If you have to miss more than 2 meets in the season, then you should not be an age group parent (minimum of 5 meets required). At each meet, your job is finished when your age group has finished their last event. (3) You are expected to be in the age group tent managing your age group swimmers. This includes lining swimmers up for events and making sure they get to the blocks on time. (4) Training is required for Age Group Parents that have no previous experience in this role. NOTE: If you choose this option, then you will still fill out your other volunteer choices later in this registration session as a backup. You will be contacted if you are selected to be an Age Group Parent based on your RESPONSE HERE. This role is a large commitment and needs only dedicated parents. Thank you. *

2025 CIT (Coach in Training) Interest

Each year the Sharks have Coaches-In-Training that help the head coach and assistant coaches during practices and other events. To be eligible to be a CIT, the swimmer must be entering 7th grade or above for the 2025-2026 school year. If your child is interested, please select the box here. Please note, there will be a CIT meeting on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM that the swimmer will need to attend. Swimmers are expected to show interest, ability, maturity, and love for swimming. *

2025 Lifeguard Interest (15 & Up)

The Sharks are looking for lifeguards (from within the team). If your swimmer is 15 & up and wishes to be considered for occasional paid lifeguard work during the season (paid per hour), please select your interest here and we'll contact you with more information. This will be a paid position. Certified Life Saving only - we have training class scheduled at the pool in the month of April if needed. NOTE: After April 15th, we start making the lifeguard schedule. Thus, we cannot guarantee that your swimmer will be put into the schedule if you register after April 15th. *

2025 Special Sponsor Bonus For Families

For every family that brings a new $250 or more value sponsor to the Sharks this season, the family will receive a customized Sharks gift that is NOT available for sale! ********ALSO: For any family that brings in $1000 in sponsorship (total combined), your volunteer commitment (and fees) are waived. **ALL Sponsorship forms and money are due April 5th. *

2025 Volunteer Descriptions & Requirements

I have reviewed the Sharks Volunteer Descriptions and Sharks Volunteer Policy (click the links).

I am aware that volunteer roles are assigned based on my registration selections but I am not guaranteed to always be volunteering for the same role every shift.

The next section talks about the required volunteer commitment.

Volunteer Policy - Required Family Participation

Parents are an essential element in operating our swim team! We need ALL parents to participate. You must agree to the Volunteer Policy.

I am aware that the minimum requirement for volunteering is 7 SHIFTS.

There are 7 meets for the 2025 season and each meet has 2 shifts.

NOTE: This does NOT apply to Age Group Parents - See Age Group Parent Question above for Age Group Parent expectations.

I am aware that my volunteering shifts will be assigned to me based on my selection of my availability DURING THIS REGISTRATION.

I am aware that I must be reliable and on time. If I miss an assigned shift or am late*, then the shift is considered "missed" and I will be charged $65 for the missed shift. This is applicable for every missed shift. NO RESCHEDULING will take place. *Definition of 'late': Your shift has to be filled with a back-up volunteer to allow the meet to proceed.

NOTE: The Sharks recognize that emergencies happen. If an emergency circumstance arises, then you will need to contact a board member immediately to discuss if that shift will be considered "missed" or not and what actions are needed.

I am aware that if I need to miss an assigned volunteer shift (non-emergent cases), than I am responsible for finding a replacement so that the shift is not considered 'missed'. This can be a relative or friend (must be 18+ years of age).

I am aware that I have the option to "Buy-Out" of my volunteer requirement at the cost of $450.

To ensure volunteer selections are processed and all 'Buy-Outs' are processed, every family will have a $450 "Volunteer Encouragement" credit or debit card authorization at the time of registration.  This is an authorization ONLY (temporary hold) and will only be submitted as an actual charge IF the family as selected the 'Buy-Out' option during registration. This hold will be released after processing (up to 7 days later).

Please contact the team as soon as possible at this email address if you have any concerns:

email:  [email protected]

Example:

Two Swimmers > $140 + $130 = $270 Fee

Volunteer Deposit = one $450 authorization per family

At check out, your card is authorized for a total of $720, BUT only $270 will post to your card. The additional $450 authorization amount will drop off in less than one week and those funds will then be available.

Required Sharks Swim-A-Fund Annual Fundraiser

Each summer the Sharks host a MANDATORY fundraising effort: Swim-A-Fund.

This year it will be Saturday, May 17th, from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM before the Fin-Off-Party (6:00 PM - 8:30 PM).

What is this all about?

The fees you pay for joining the team cover a lot but don't cover significant maintenance expenses for the pool, pool supplies, additional coaches, and other support expenses.

The requirements are simple: EITHER commit to coming to the Swim-A-Thon and participating by SWIMMING that day and/or getting sponsors to raise money OR pay the flat amount of $100 per family.

All swimmers swim a fixed number of laps OR with donations, REDUCE their requirements (even down to ZERO). These laps will be swum from 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM. That's it! The more donations they bring in, the fewer laps they swim, and the more of the PARTY they get to enjoy!

Activities at the PARTY include:

Pizza for sale, Team Games, Shark Tattoos, Pies-the-Coach's-Faces, and much more.

There will be Prizes for most $ raised, Gift card raffles, and Gift Baskets.

BONUS: If the team raises more than $8,000 then they will EARN an inflatable water slide at the End-of-Season Party!
